#1-- Credicorp/CreditCorp
Dallas, Texas (214)-630-0510
They are a Merchandising/catalog company. They want 29.95 for
membership in exchange for a gold card usable for products in the catalog. THIS
IS NOT A BANK CARD. Here is a consumers experience.
"Yes, $29.95 is a small
price to pay. But I would much rather pay on a high priced visa card or open a
secured American Express card. And be able to shop where I want to, for fair
priced goods, not retail+ mark-ups on generic & brand name products.
Stupidly, I joined one of these programs and have a catalog called Nationwide
Marketing, they gave me $5,000 credit limit (gold card). Oh, they have so much
to choose from, but its all at high prices. For Instance- a 35mm disposable
flash camera with 24 exposures is $18.95. I can get them at the grocery store
for $5.99 27 exposures. This is the first thing I opened too. There are hundreds
of things choose from.
Next issue about "gold cards" programs.
According to them they were going to report my good payment history to my three
reports. At first they didn't and at that time I cancelled out of the deal.
Suddenly, last year they showed on my credit files that I had a $5,000 line of
credit... named to NW Marketing. I was told this is a potential red flag to
future creditors that "I am so desperate that I joined a card catalog
program". I disputed it and had NW Marketing removed from my reports."

#2-- Platinum2000 Visa
They're a telemarketing firm offering membership in there
discount programs. And they are hitting the phones hard and heavy this
year. You receive discounts on travel and entertainment products.
For joining they send out your credit information and apply to lenders
on your behalf, causing multiple inquiries on your credit reports.
They ask you to pay $179.95 to $199 by drafting your bank account. This
is not a good practice. Never give anyone you do not know the
routing and account number of your bank account. In our opinion,
if this is such a great deal, they should be able to send you the info
in the mail. But they cannot, and we suggest you tell them no
thanks. THIS IS A DANGEROUS DEAL... there is no guarantee that you would
ever get the Platinum Visa Card.
Above information comes as a result of
actual consumers and CreditMania research. We were not able to get a
phone number for them at all.
